Welcome to the vibrant world of Papi Chulo’s Taqueria, a delightful Mexican restaurant located at 555 NW Arizona Ave Suite 60, Bend, OR. Here, the aroma of authentic Mexican cuisine mingles with a warm atmosphere, making it an inviting destination for both locals and visitors. As you step inside, the lively decor sets the stage for a culinary journey that captures the essence of Mexico.
Among the standout offerings, the Birria Burrito deserves special mention. This dish is a crispy golden delight filled with carne de birria and queso fresco, combining rich flavors that transport you straight to the heart of Mexico. Customers rave about its quality, with Dylan Moore declaring it “great,” alongside other flavorful options on the menu. If you're feeling adventurous, don’t miss the Birria Tacos, celebrated for their generous portions and satisfying taste, as highlighted by Nes Borne, who recommends it as a must-try.
The customizable Wet Burrito is another fantastic choice, featuring a blend of pinto or black beans, pico de gallo, and Mexican rice topped with a delightful crema. Constantine Johns appreciates the balance of flavors and noted that the burrito bowl, alongside chips and guacamole, made for a hearty meal. The guacamole, available in both small and large portions, complements any dish and is perfect for those seeking a bit of zest.
While the majority of dishes shine brightly, some guests have provided constructive feedback. Variety is present in the tacos, including options like carne asada and cochinita pibil, though the flavors may not fully align with what purists of traditional Mexican cuisine expect. Alfredo Aguilar's experience indicated that while some tacos like the birria and camarón were delectable, others needed more seasoning. This highlights an area for potential improvement, but the friendly service provided by bilingual staff adds a personal touch that many patrons appreciate.
Overall, Papi Chulo’s Taqueria offers a colorful and engaging experience filled with satisfying dishes that showcase the rich tapestry of Mexican gastronomy. With a menu rich in variety and flavors complemented by genuine hospitality, it’s a place worth visiting when in Bend. Whether you’re indulging in nachos embellished with pico de gallo and jalapeños or enjoying the lively ambiance, there’s no doubt that you’ll leave with warm memories and a happy palate.

Birria burrito was great, along with many other things we ordered tacos, etc. yum! On a separate visit the Papi burrito was also delicious despite being their most simple/inexpensive burrito.

Really good Birria Tacos , lots of meat and super tasty, price per taco is fair with the amount of meat. Prep was well done. If you are in Bend visiting , don’t forget to put this in your list of food places to try !!!

Papi Chulos Taqueria has a great atmosphere and truly outstanding customer service. The woman at the front was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. She spoke both English and Spanish, which made the experience even more enjoyable as we were able to chat in Spanish. That kind of connection really added a personal touch. As someone from a border city where authentic Mexican food is part of everyday life, I was excited to try a variety of tacos here. I ordered the birria, carne asada, camarón, and cochinita pibil tacos. The birria and camarón tacos were the highlights—full of flavor and cooked just right. The camarón taco especially stood out as one of the best. However, the carne asada lacked seasoning and didn’t deliver much flavor. The cochinita pibil, unfortunately, didn’t resemble the traditional dish—it tasted like it had been thawed in water and was missing the rich, seasoned flavor you’d expect. I wouldn’t say the tacos overall are very authentic, at least from the perspective of someone familiar with traditional Mexican cuisine. Still, the friendly service and a couple of standout tacos made the visit enjoyable. I’d rate the food a soft 3 out of 5—some great potential with room for improvement in authenticity and flavor.

Papi Chulos's is a colorful mexican restaurant with a cool atmosphere. You order at the countertop and take a number, and then they bring it out to you. The burrito bowl and chips / guac / pico were good. I really liked their green and red sauce that came with. Super flavorful with good spice. Food and drinks came quickly, and the staff came in to check on us a couple of times. Everything else is self-service. There wasn't anything super special/standout about our experience there, but it was a good meal.

The food is so so good. The service could be improved…the person who took our order could care less that we were speaking to her and was not helpful when one of our party asked a question about the margaritas.

This place is a unicorn when it comes to price AND quality - $11 for 2 of the best (loaded!) birria tacos I've had to date the broth for dip was outstanding, we were eating it up with our leftover chips when our entrées were finished. Warm, friendly service, great atmosphere. I usually don't leave reviews for restaurants but this place is EXCEPTIONAL. We will be back! Maybe tomorrow

I have tried a half dozen Mexican restaurants in Bend and this one is my favorite for sure. The Buritto Bowl with Chicken is so darn good with a perfect flavor mix. Tacos a yes and of course you should splurge on Chips and their awesome queso sauce.

An excellent place that serves great authentic Mexican food that specializes in birria. Counter service that is fast and friendly with a wide selection of dishes. A selection of beer or cocktails with N/A choices too to quench your thirst. Smoke indoor/outdoor seating with a great location. Parking can be tough during the tourist season. Expect upscale prices for a taco shop. I'll return anytime I'm in the mood for great tacos and especially anything birria.
